The Wickford Church of England School
Our HEARTS values are...
We get together to talk about how we feel about what happens and our learning in school.
Thank you to Henry, Jacob, Alexa, Sophia, Aimee-Mae, Gracie, Amelia, George, Maisie, Lennon, Ollie, Tian, Kanye and Roger who attended PE talk time last week with Miss Glover.
They were able to articulate excellently their class responses to the Talk time questions and were quick to identify many of the strengths of the subject as well as offering realistic changes that we could make to make it even better. The key findings were:
Strengths – Children have loved using the gymnastic equipment and apparatus including wall bars, ropes and benches to learn new gymnastic skills such as forwards rolls, jumping and balancing. They are also enjoying the games that they are playing in outdoor PE lessons with both their class teachers and the Thursday sports coaches from Southend FC. Year 2 also particularly enjoyed their dance rehearsals that are starting and are looking forward to lots of fun performances after half term!
Areas to develop – Mainly children would like to have goal posts and a ‘proper’ football (we will look into a safe, playground friendly version) as well as basketball nets or netball posts to practise their shooting skills! Many of the reception children also expressed an interest in tennis so I will look into seeing if the Everyone Active tennis coaches from last year could visit again this year or next!
Well done for all your excellent ideas. We now have thousands of Sainsbury Vouchers (a big thank you to you all, I think it could be a record amount!) that we can use to hopefully make these wishes come true!
